Novermber 2011

Ok, so it's been a while between posts. But I have been busy. In July I started higher degree research at Macquarie University in the Department of Media, Music, Communication and Cultural Studies. My research focus is in song writing approaches and modern recording technology. Thus far, I've been exploring exisiting theories on the subject and working out exactly what direction my research will take, and what contribution it will make. I'll post a brief outline of my research soon.

January 2011

Happy new year! Last year I did over 130 shows, so it could be said it was the year of performance for me. This year, I'd like to take more time to develop a new album (Haven't released one since 2008!). Keep an eye on the shows section of this site for upcoming gigs, and I'll keep you updated on the progress of my album.

My Showcase Evening at Pennant Hills Inn returns this year in February and will run the first thursday of each month (starting Feb 3). I'm looking forward to sharing new acts with you over the coming months.

November 2010

Last month I gave a one hour lecture on songwriting and the guitar to undergrad students at Macquarie University. The lecture explored techniques for harmonizing songs in popular music, specifically: the diatonic chord sequence, applying seventh chords to triads, secondary dominants and the flat seventh chord. It was a great experience to have been given this opportunity to share my thoughts on sonwriting approaches.

September 2010

I've recently updated the website to make it a little more user friendly. It's still a work in progress, but I will continue to add things in the next couple of weeks. The best way to keep up to date with my upcoming shows is through the Shows section of this website.

In other news, I'm current working on my new studio album which I hope to release early 2011. The past 6 months have been mostly spent performing music, rather than creating it.
